Public Access to SunScreens Coalition to Hold Media Conference Call, Kick-Off Campaign to Improve Access to Sunscreens in the United States
(Washington, DC) -- On March 14, 2013, members of the newly formed Public Access to SunScreens Coalition, or PASS Coalition, will hold a media conference call to introduce and kick-off their campaign to fight the growing skin cancer epidemic in the United States by ensuring Americans have access to the latest effective sunscreens.
PASS Coalition is a multi-stakeholder coalition of health organizations, sunscreen ingredient companies, Dermatologists and concerned citizens who will work collaboratively with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the White House, Congress, health providers, consumer organizations and sunscreen manufacturers to establish a framework for approval of the next generation of UV active filters for Over-the-Counter (OTC) sunscreens.
According to a recent national survey, 85 percent of Americans use sunscreen in their daily life. Furthermore, 86 percent of citizens approve of creating a program that allows for the latest sunscreen products and technology in the United States.
